Soccer Workshops

 

Junior Soccer Workshop

Soccer players who are just starting will learn the fundamentals of this fun and exciting sport. The fundamentals of kicking, ball handling, passing, and kicking into a goal will be taught through our beginner workshop. Every workshop will emphasize different skills so participants will be able to grow a diverse set of skills with each workshop.

Advanced Soccer Workshop 

Soccer players who have played a couple of seasons will focus on improving their kicking, ball handling, passing,  and game skills through these workshops. Every workshop will emphasize different skills so participants will be able to grow a diverse set of skills with each workshop.

Participants must provide their own soccer ball to participate in the workshops. All workshops will be outdoors, so please apply sunscreen to your child before class. Safety guidelines will be followed throughout the class, such as wearing masks when not exercising, maintaining a 6-ft distance between participants, no physical contact between participants, no scrimmaging, and sanitizing equipment through each use.  If inclement weather arises, the workshop may be canceled. You will be notified via email if a make-up class will be made available or if a refund will be issued.

Guidelines to follow:

 

1. Participants should wear face coverings over their nose and mouth whenever not exercising (exceptions can be made for people with medical conditions or disabilities that prevent them from safely wearing a face covering).

 

2. Participants must provide their own soccer ball.

 

3. Classes should allow for 6-ft. of social distancing between participants and are limited to a maximum of 8 participants.

 

4. Please wash your hands before and after the program.

 

5. Before allowing entrance or before class, staff should ask whether participants are currently exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms. If a participant does have symptoms, they should wait to enter premises until they have had no fever for at least 72 hours, other symptoms have improved, and at least 10 days have passed since their symptoms first appeared.

 

6. Equipment should not be shared between participants at the same time unless from the same household.

 

7. Classes do not add new participants once the session has started.

 

8. Spectators must keep their distance between others and participants.

 

9. There will be no scrimmaging

 

10. Under no circumstance will instructors allow contact between participants.

 

Tae Kwon Do | Ages 6-18

The focus of the Golden Lion Academy combines the disciplines of Tae-kwon-do, Hapkido Judo, and Kung-fu. Students learn the basics of self-defense from day one. They build upon these features by adding more advanced techniques from various styles. As students progress, they earn opportunities for advancement through the various ranks in a safe, friendly, and enjoyable environment. This commitment has helped the Golden Lion Academy develop countless numbers of individuals over the past 30 years. Advanced placement requires the instructor’s authorization to enroll. Safety guidelines will be followed throughout the class, such as wearing masks when not exercising, maintaining a 6-ft distance between participants, no physical contact between participants, and sanitizing equipment through each use.

Gymnastics

The Hanover Park Park District gymnastics program is operated by the Gymkhana Gymnastics Club.  Gymkhana has been providing high-quality instruction in gymnastics since 1975. They offer programs for all ages and abilities starting from preschool gymnastics classes, to their nationally competing U.S.A. Gymnastics Men’s and Women’s teams.  Gymkhana’s professional staff is comprised of U.S.A. Gymnastics safety certified coaches. The Gymkhana facility is 25,300 square feet of the latest and best equipment. 

 

Youth Gymnastics

GYM I: Development of strength, balance & coordination as well as the introduction of basic apparatus skills.

 

GYM II: Students possessing basic gymnastics skills ready for more challenging skills such as handstands and round-off.

                                               

 

Beginner Level

Age: 5+ years

Dress code: wear a leotard or non-baggy T-shirt and shorts.

NOTE: All students should fall within the age range listed for the class they are being enrolled in.  If someone is making an alternate request, it needs to be reviewed by Gymkhana Gymnastics for possible approval.

Guidelines to follow:

 

  1. Class size is limited to 6 participants.

  2. Everyone entering/exiting is required to wear a face mask.

  3. You will be temperature checked entering the facility.

  4. Athletes will need to wash their hands/sanitize between each event.

  5. Athletes will need to wear their mask for moving throughout the gym and for warm-up.

  6. Masks will be removed during activity, as it’s not safe for participants to wear while flipping around.

  7. Mats are sanitized multiple times a day.

  8. Parents need to drop off/pick up their child(ren) to eliminate additional people in the facility and to help maintain social distancing.
