Summer Camp

Get outdoors and have an adventure this summer, playing games, making crafts, participating in theme days, making friends, and more!  

All camp sessions are one week, running from 8 am – 3 pm with the option to extend the day.  Families may choose to register for the full week, or a Monday, Wednesday, Friday option. Dependent on enrollment numbers, children may be divided into smaller groups based on age. Children must be entering the grades listed in Fall 2021. 

 

Information may change due to CDC guidelines.

Crawford's Daughter

Made up of 4 dynamic Chicago musicians and tackles songs from Fleetwood Mac, Little Big Town, Marvin Gaye, The Pretenders, Heart, and more. Crawford's Daughter delivers fiery guitar, powerful vocals, creative bass lines, and 4-part harmonies to bring you their spin on some of the greatest rock, blues, and soul tunes that were ever written.

Free Family Summer Event

Pack up the family and join us for an evening of music and fun! Bring your blankets and chairs over to the Hanover Park Park District and enjoy a free outdoor concert behind our sledding hill on Church St. Concerts will take place from 7 pm to 8:30 pm. If the weather is inclement, the concert will be moved inside to our community gym.

Before School Club (BSC)

Our before-school staff not only provides a safe and fun environment but also participates in games and crafts with your child before they start the school day.  A light breakfast will be available. With a flexible schedule (you choose how many days your child attends) and a reasonable fee, you cannot go wrong.

BASC Daily Pass

Don’t have a set schedule or need childcare when something comes up? Then this is your solution. The Daily Pass allows you to purchase days and use them when you need them throughout the school year.  There are guidelines that will be given out at the time of registration.  Please note that some dates may become unavailable based on program capacity.  No refunds given on unused passes.

Preschool

Preschool Mission Statement

The Hanover Park Park District’s Preschool program provides a safe and nurturing learning environment to encourage the progression of socialization skills,   motor skills,   and emotional development while encouraging independence, self-expression, and listening skills. Our students are prepared for kindergarten through the learning areas of numbers,   math,   letters, writing, reading, colors, and shapes.

 

Preschool 2021-2022 Enrollment Information 

1.Review class information.  Decide upon a class that will best fit schedules and the child’s age.  There is limited enrollment in these programs.

  • Little Learners is for children who are 3 years old as of August 30, 2021.

  • Pre-Kindergarten is for children who are 4 years old as of August 30, 2021.

 

2. Register by calling the front desk at the Community Center 630.837.2468.

  • You will need the first month’s tuition.

  • You will need a copy of your child’s birth certificate.

  • $15 non-resident fee will be charged at the time of registration when applicable.

 

3. Upon completing the registration you will receive:

  • Parent Manual.

  • Information Sheet concerning billing.

  • Emergency information form to be completed by the parent and given to child’s teacher on the first day of school.

 

4. All children must be toilet independent

  • Pull-ups are not acceptable for Little Learners and Pre-Kindergarten.  Please refer to the Totally 2’s & 3’s description regarding pull-ups for that program.

Make the smart choice to get your little one ready for kindergarten! Our curriculum is based on the Illinois Early Learning Standards. Little Learners

Socialization and learning through play will fill your child’s day. Students are exposed to creative art expression, singing and rhythm activities, body movement, stories, free play, name recognition, fine motor skills, and activities related to everyday math, science, and language discovery.  This class is a great opportunity for your child to get ready for Pre-Kindergarten. Totally 2s & 3s Enrollment Procedure

Registration must be completed by calling the Park District office (630) 837-2468.  The entire fee is due at the time of registration.  A copy of the child’s birth certificate is due at the time of registration.  Your child must be 2 years old by August 30, 2021.  Upon registering you will be given a copy of the parent manual, emergency form, and medication form.  The forms are due on the first day of class.   

 

Totally 2s & 3s Information

Parents may stay the first class to help ease their child into separation.  This is not a parent/tot program and will be asked to stop attending after the first class.* Information may change due to CDC guidelines.

 

Pull-ups are accepted, but our teachers are not able to change any child.  Children should be in the process of learning how to be toilet-independent while attending this program.  Parents must be available to return to the program to change their child’s pull-up or in case of a bathroom accident.

Beginning Guitar Lessons

Summer fun means learning something new and exciting.  Get their journey started by enrolling your child in our wonderful guitar class. Learn guitar from a performing professional guitar instructor! Beginning lessons are given on Wednesday evenings in conjunction with A & A Music Academy.  Each class is designed to teach basic music reading skills, chords, strumming techniques, plus much more, and all with fun songs you’ll love! Beginning Piano Lessons

Private Drum Lessons

Ages 8+ | Thr | $111/$126

For children and adults, beginners and experienced drummers! You'll learn Jazz, Rock, Blues, Funk, and Latin Funk drum techniques during private half-hour lessons on a professional drum set. Instructor Verne Duddles creates a comfortable, safe, and inspiring atmosphere to maximize each student's progress. Safety guidelines will be followed throughout the lesson, such as wearing masks, maintaining a 6-ft distance, and sanitizing equipment through each use.

 

Please bring a set of drum sticks to class (price is $6-$12), available at any music store. Recommended drumsticks: Size 7A for children and 5A for adults.

Guidelines to Follow:

 

1. Participants should wear face coverings over their nose and mouth. (exceptions can be made for people with medical conditions or disabilities that prevent them from safely wearing a face covering).

 

2. Lessons will allow for 6-ft. of social distancing between participants and instructor.

 

3. Please wash your hands before and after the program. 

 

4. Before allowing entrance or before class, staff will ask whether participants are currently exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms. If a participant does have symptoms, they should not enter the premises. Please contact us for a refund due to illness. 

5. Equipment will not be shared between participants unless from the same household.

6. Classes do not add new participants once the session has started.

 

7. Parents and guardians are not allowed to enter the board room, this way we can maintain social distancing.

 

8. Under no circumstance will the instructor allow contact between participants.

Gaming Leagues

Do you love video games? Are you better than your friends? Then prove it! Join our NEW gaming leagues through GGLeagues, one of Illinois’s top gaming organizations. Play Madden 21, Rocket League, Fortnite, and Super Smash Bros and show off your skills. You will be playing against the top-notch competition as others will sign up to see if they can be the best.

After registration, you will receive information from GG Leagues about signing up and playing with the other players who have registered.

In this week-long camp, ninjas will gain an understanding of the digital modeling processes and storytelling as they build scenes in Minecraft and produce stories in their digital world. They will also be introduced to recording, editing, and mixing audio and video as they produce their final stories as short movies.

Want to build on your Minecraft knowledge? In this camp, ninjas will learn to manipulate and master Minecraft by making their own mods(modifications). Using basic block-based coding ninjas will learn procedures, conditionals, and variables. They will create 2D and 3D textures for use in their Minecraft world along with their very own custom content, including weapons, armor, and even enemies!

Roblox 1

Hanover Park Park District brings the tradition of pillow forts and backyard camping to your house. You will receive a special delivery from us that will include craft supplies, games, and a s'mores making kit. Our craft box provides all the supplies that you will need to complete all the crafts. Little Gymnastics Star | Wed | Ages 4-5

This class is for the child who loves to jump, roll and climb.  Children will be introduced to the junior bar, beam, vault, and tumbling exercises.  Body awareness and balance will be further developed through an “obstacle course” arrangement of mats.  Parents do not attend this class.

*Maximum number of students enrolled per class should be set at five (5).

Gymnastics Gymkhana

6622 Barrington Road, Hanover Park.

The Hanover Park Park District gymnastics program is operated by the Gymkhana Gymnastics Club.  Gymkhana has been providing high-quality instruction in gymnastics since 1975. They offer programs for all ages and abilities starting from preschool gymnastics classes, to their nationally competing U.S.A. Gymnastics Men’s and Women’s teams.  Gymkhana’s professional staff is comprised of U.S.A. Gymnastics safety certified coaches. The Gymkhana facility is 25,300 square feet of the latest and best equipment.

Preschool Gymnastics:

This program introduces young children to gymnastics alongside their parents.  Body awareness and balance will be developed through an “obstacle course” arrangement of mats, foam inclines, barrels, steps, and mini-equipment.  One parent is required to attend class with the child.

BOXING ACADEMY

YOUTH & ADULT | Thur | Ages 8+ 

Punch it! HPPD will help you develop self-confidence and self-respect in a safe and fun environment. Participants will learn how to sharpen their minds and body through the technique and discipline of this program. Learn how to wrap hands like a boxer, stance, self-defense, and punching technique all while shadow boxing, working the heavy bag, and working the speed bag. Participants are strongly recommended to purchase mouth guards & hand wraps for the program. No boxing experience needed.

Tae Kwon Do

Ages 6 + | Tuesdays

The focus of the Golden Lion Academy combines the disciplines of Tae-kwon-do, Hapkido Judo, and Kung-fu. Students learn the basics of self-defense from day one. They build upon these features by adding more advanced techniques from various styles. As students progress, they earn opportunities for advancement through the various ranks in a safe, friendly, and enjoyable environment. This commitment has helped the Golden Lion Academy develop countless numbers of individuals over the past 30 years. Advanced placement requires the instructor’s authorization to enroll. Safety guidelines will be followed throughout the class, such as wearing masks when not exercising, maintaining a 6-ft distance between participants, no physical contact between participants, and sanitizing equipment through each use.*
