FOIA - The Freedom of Information Act
The State of Illinois' public access laws include the Freedom of Information Act and the Open Meetings Act.

Purpose of the Act
The Act reads "Pursuant to the fundamental philosophy of the American constitutional form of government, it is declared to be the public policy of the State of Illinois that all persons are entitled to full and complete information regarding the affairs of government and the official acts and policies of those who represent them as public officials and public employees."

REQUESTS FOR PUBLIC RECORDS
Requests for inspection or copying of public records shall be made in writing and directed to the Hanover Park Park District. Written requests may be submitted to a public body via personal delivery, mail, email, telefax, or other means available to the District. The public body may honor oral requests for inspection or copying. A public body may not require that a request be submitted on a standard form or require the requester to specify the purpose for a request, except to determine whether the records are requested for a commercial purpose or whether to grant a request for a fee waiver. All requests for inspection and copying received by a public body shall immediately be forwarded to its FOIA officer or designee.
