Arson Tipster Award Program
Public playgrounds have become the targets of arsonist and when a loss occurs, an entire playground worth tens of thousands of dollars can be lost to the children of the community within a matter of minutes. Other park amenities such as shelters have also been damaged or destroyed. As much as staff and local law enforcement officers try to prevent these incidents, it is sometimes local residents and park users that are the best source of information about who may be involved in these acts.
The Hanover Park Park District has adopted the new “Arson Tipster Award Program”. The program will be promoted through the use of posters, flyers and press releases. This information will encourage the public to call the designated Arson Tipster Program hotline at 630.837.2468 ext. 222 with information related to an act of arson on Hanover Park Park District property. Should that information lead to the arrest of a perpetrator or a conspirator, that person will then be nominated for a cash reward up to $500. The Park District Risk Management Agency will administer the award program.
For more information please contact the Hanover Park Park District at 630.837.2468.

BIKE PATH AND TRAILS MAINTENANCE POLICY
Mother Nature will be allowed to take her own course of action with respect to our park district bike paths and trails, located at Community Park, Ahlstrand Park, Harbor Park East-West, Nautilus Park and Ranger Park. In Illinois there is no legal duty to clear paths or trails of snow and ice. But if an agency voluntarily takes on the job, liability may be imposed if it is not done properly. The sight of an unplowed path attracts users who are involved in activities (such as cross country skiing) which is enhanced by the presence of snow, but prevents prudent people from taking walks on them.
The Park District Risk Management Agency (PDRMA) recommends that we limit path maintenance to a thorough season-ending inspection and documentation of irregularities, that we fix any hazards and that we post signs conveying the message that users of the paths and trails do so at their own risk.
